Consider whether the pI of a buffered solution of a native protein would be the same or different after it had been denatured by addition of HCl. That is, should denaturation of a protein with HCl change the pI of the protein? If so, would the pI increase, or would it decrease upon denaturation? Justify your answer, including the definition of the pI of a protein.
